Summer Self-Care (With or Without the Kids!)

Let’s be honest, summer often feels less like a break and more like a blur. Whether you’ve got little ones home from school, you’re racing between BBQs and weddings, or you’re just trying to enjoy a bit of sunshine between work and life, finding time for you can be a challenge.
But here’s the thing: self-care doesn’t have to mean hours at a spa (though I wouldn’t say no! - especially to a little time at the beauty salon). Sometimes it’s the small things that help us reset, feel grounded, and enjoy the chaos of summer a little more. Whether you’ve got kids in tow or you're flying solo, here are some simple, feel-good self-care ideas to weave into your summer.
I always try to choose clothes that make me feel cool and comfortable. There’s nothing worse than feeling sticky and irritated! A light cotton dress, loose tee, or a pair of linen shorts can make all the difference to your mood. Open toe shoes always feel cooler, and are the perfect way to show off a fresh pedicure or set of gel nails!
2. Hydration Is Self-Care
We know it, but do we do it? Try keeping a water bottle nearby and sipping regularly, even if you’re not feeling thirsty - add some fruit or mint, this always works for me! Now you’re hydrating on the inside, don’t forget about your skin, we’ve got our favourite skin hydration products in the salon.
3. The Bedtime Shower Ritual
Now a quick shower before bed can feel so refreshing and has been a complete game changer for me. Not only does it help cool you down on warm nights, but it also helps you unwind after a busy day. Bonus points if you light a candle or use a favourite body treatment. Need a little help choosing a body care product?

- we’ve got some great options at our Worcester salon.
4. Music, Please!
Create a feel-good playlist (or find one already made), something uplifting that makes you smile. Play it while making dinner, cleaning, or dancing in the kitchen with the kids. Music really is magic for the mood.
5. Phone a Friend
As women, sometimes catching-up with a friend is all the therapy we need. Whether it’s a long lunch or a quick voice note exchange while folding laundry, that connection matters. Better yet, why not book a pamper session for two at our Worcester beauty salon, and take advantage of our Bestie Thursdays offer - facials, gel nails, and plenty of time to unwind together.
