Your Spring & Summer Skin Isn’t Created in Spring & Summer

When the warmer months roll in, we all suddenly want glowing, even, healthy skin now. Especially our wonderful brides to be.
But here’s the truth most people don’t realise:
Your spring and summer skin is actually created months earlier.
Yep, the skin you’re seeing today is the result of what you were doing (or not doing) last year.
Let me explain…
Skin Works on a Delay System
Your skin doesn’t respond overnight.
From the moment a new skin cell is created to when it reaches the surface, it takes roughly 28–40 days - and sadly, longer as we get older. I know, it’s not fair!
That means:
The glow you want in July?
The smooth texture you’re hoping for on holiday?
The calm, balanced skin you expect when the sun comes out?
That groundwork needed to start weeks - even months - earlier.
Why Skin Often “Acts Up” in Spring & Summer
In the salon, we see it every single year:
Breakouts suddenly appear
Pigmentation becomes more noticeable
Skin feels oilier, more sensitive, or dehydrated
It’s often the result of:
Winter dehydration that was never corrected
Barrier damage from cold weather and central heating
Skipping SPF earlier in the year (and the year before that…)
Using products that were too heavy or too harsh
When UV exposure increases, all of this rises to the surface - literally.
In our next blog, we’ll explain why winter and early spring are the most important months for preparing your skin - and why summer isn’t the time to fix everything.
