5 Ways To Combat Dry Dehydrated skin

Dry skin can happen for many reasons, like those moments when you blast the air conditioning in your car (guilty!) and your skin loses its natural moisture.

If you love long, hot baths (also, guilty!), that heat can also strip away hydration, as can using harsh soaps—even if they smell amazing and look fancy.

Medications or health conditions can also make it harder for your skin to hold onto moisture and stay healthy. And it’s not just your face—dryness can affect your whole body, from your scalp to the soles of your feet.

Here are 5 effective ways to treat dry skin:

 1. Use quality products: High street products often contain similar ingredients to those used in salon products, but the difference lies in the size of the molecules. If the molecules are too large, as is common with many high street products, they can’t penetrate the skin effectively to make a difference. In this case, size does matter! Here’s a great box set to get you on the right track!

 2. Hydrate from Within: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to maintain overall hydration. But think of your skin cells as a water balloon. If you have dry skin, your balloon has holes in it, so drinking more water won’t keep it plump. Quality skin specific supplementation products like Skin Omegas+ act like bubble wrap for the balloon, helping it retain moisture and stay full.

 3. Avoid Hot Showers: Hot water can strip the skin of its natural oils. Go for lukewarm water instead or even better, cold water if you’re brave enough!

4. Use Gentle Cleansers: A cleanser is for removing makeup and debris and then preparing the skin for your next steps. So choose mild, non-foaming, and fragrance-free cleanser that won't strip your skin's natural oils. 5. Apply a moisturiser: Choose one containing Vitamin A, especially if you're aiming to improve your skin. Vitamin A is scientifically proven to enhance skin health, but start gradually to ensure your skin can tolerate the right amount. We love Environ and our clients love it too!
