Which facial is best for my skin type?

August 23, 2017

Glowing, gorgeous skin can be difficult to achieve, as there are lots of factors to consider, including diet and lifestyle, genetics and, importantly, skin type.

When it comes to booking a facial, similar to buying a new cleanser, you must consider your skin type. Facials are a great way to give your skin a boost, but one of the questions we’re most frequently asked in the salons is ‘what type of facial is best for my skin?’

At All About Me, we offer our clients facials from world renowned skincare specialists, Environ. The Environ facials use iontophoresis (that’s a fancy phrase for electrical pulses) and sonophoresis (more fanciness for sound waves) that mean we are able to push products to the base layer of your skin. Manual facials can’t do this, making one Environ facial the equivalent to 72 hours of manual facials! This means real changes can be made to the skin with just one Environ facial.

So which facial should you book, according to your skin type?

Dry skin

Dry skin lacks natural lipids or oils, which makes it prone to dehydration. Because of this lack of water, the skin's natural exfoliating cycle slows down. The Hydraboost facial is a great all-year-round facial, perfect for both those with dry skin and those of us who feel a little lacklustre through the colder months.

This facial contains Hyaluronic Acid, which holds a thousand times its own weight in water. This helps to add moisture to skin and plumps it from within.

Acne prone skin

Acne occurs when hair follicles beneath the skin clog with a mixture of skin bacteria and oil. These blemishes can cause a lot of distress for acne sufferers. If you are prone to spots, your skin could benefit greatly from a Cool Peel facial. This lowers the pH of the skin to create an almost sterile environment, thereby killing bacteria. This facial boosts hydration and removes the build-up of dead skin cells, helping to decongest the surface and smooth its texture.

Oily and combination skin

Oily skin produces more oil than it needs, leading to congestion inside of the pores. Combination skin indicates your face has both oily and dry areas. Whether you experience oily or combination skin, the Advanced Active Vitamin facial will work for you. During this treatment, a member of our team will assess the skin and divide it into 10 sections, with each one treated accordingly. This means we can treat the dry areas differently to the more oily areas.

Ageing skin More mature skin can be a challenge, as cell production slows down as you get older and skin type can change. If you are concerned with ageing skin the Collagen Power facial is the one for you. This stimulates Hyaluronic Acid within the skin, instantly hydrating and visibly softening lines. Three peptides work to repair and boost collagen and elastin within the skin.

We always recommend to book a course of facials, as this way you’ll see the best results; however, you will see a difference after the first treatment, so you can always treat yourself to one before committing to more. All About Me offer free consultations and regularly hold skin events. If you are interested in attending our next event, please email info@loveallaboutme.co.uk.

Finally, a little tip for you – if you pick up a copy of February’s Good Housekeeping magazine, you’ll find a £25 voucher inside for an Environ Facial, valid until March 31st 2016. So now there’s even more reason to book a facial with us!
